SHENANDOAH VALLEY RESIDENCE
A Modern Agrarian Retreat.
The story
This 2,500 square foot house by Sparkman Architects is perched on a north facing hillside in the Shenadoah Valley. Our plan includes a yellowwood allee along a ribbon-style gravel drive, with intensive meadow gardens around the house. Apple orchards are planned for the slopes surrounding the site. At the heart of the entry courtyard, 11 corten steel raised planters will be filled with vegetables, herbs, and perennials. The patio to the north will step down to a stone pool deck that is set into the hillside before it drops off.
